(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 5 – Italy’s Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori won the mixed doubles at the French Open on Thursday, beating American pair Taylor Townsend and Evan King 6-4 6-2 in the final.
It is Errani and Vavassori’s second grand slam title together after they won the US Open in September.
Premier Giorgia Meloni congratulated them, hailing the triumph as “extraordinary”.
“Once again, you have take our Tricolore (flag) high: congratulations champions, Italy is proud of you,” Meloni said via social media.
Errani is also in the semi-finals of the women’s doubles at Roland Garros with her partner Jasmine Paolini. (ANSA).
