This is the third generation of the DGMLive website – and it will undoubtedly continue to evolve. There are already features that we have planned but not yet implemented.
The role of the website itself has changed over time. Twenty years ago, DGMLive might have been seen as the primary place where fans would go for news and discussions. Much of this, of course, now happens on social media.
The core of the website might therefore better be seen as a library – for both music and words. Somewhere filled with a large number of treasures waiting to be discovered, as well as those still being added on a daily basis. So while there may not always be exciting daily “news”, there are always daily treats. As well as the ongoing nuggets unearthed by Stormy Mundy.
Finding ways to present such a large body of material is an ongoing challenge. Just today, we were discussing the fascinating essays that Sid Smith has written to accompany the various reissues – many of which have yet to be added to the site. It really does feel akin to a library or an art gallery, wandering into different rooms with so much to see . . . (link)
