(ANSA) – ATENE, 02 GIU – The Italian Embassy, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Greek National Opera, presented the concert ‘L’Alba Separa dalla Luce l’Ombra’ by the Opera Gala Ensemble, with the participation of Silvia Pasini and Michael Alfonsi of the Rome Opera House, at the prestigious Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, a gem of modern architecture in Athens designed by Renzo Piano.
The artists performed last Saturday evening in a show dedicated to ‘Bel Canto’, reads a press release. Famous arias by the most celebrated Italian composers alternated with the classical repertoire of popular song, in a fascinating journey through Italian opera and melody between the 19th and 20th centuries that thrilled the large audience present.
“On the occasion of the Republic Day celebrations,” Ambassador Paolo Cuculi emphasised, “the collaboration we have initiated between the Italian Opera and the Greek Opera with this marvellous homage to Italian music represents an important contribution to broaden and deepen the already fervent and articulate cultural dialogue between Italy and Greece.
