(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 2 – Groups supporting the Global Sumud Flotilla on Tuesday threatened to block Italian ports if the Israeli authorities stop the ships belonging to it from taking humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Port workers in Genoa said they would not let even a “nail” depart from it if the flotilla is halted after Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said the vessels will be seized and people onboard detained and treated like terrorism suspects.
Then a group of left-wing ‘social centre’ clubs and the Adl Cobas union threatened to take similar action in Venice.
“We declare from the outset that, if the Flotilla is stopped, we will mobilize to blockade the port of Venice,” they said in a joint statement.
“We will continue our action, turning outrage into direct action, solidarity into disobedience.” (ANSA).
