(ANSA) – ROME, FEB 22 – A 53-year-old police officer who is completing her male to female transition was kicked and punched at a nightclub in the northern city of Trento, according to local news reports on Saturday.
The trans officer, who was not in service and was in civilian attire, was allegedly insulted by three young ultra fans at around 3 am on February 15.
She was violently attacked after she responded to the slurs by slapping the youths, the reports said.
The victim was able to run away and drove herself to the ER of the local Santa Chiara Hospital where she was given a prognosis of 30 days.
The alleged attackers are ultra fans of the local soccer team, local media said.
The police officer has worked in another city for the past decades, per the reports. (ANSA).
