Travelex has opened a new retail outlet at Hamad International Airport (HIA), further solidifying its footprint in Qatar. This addition marks the company’s 13th location within the airport, showcasing Travelex’s commitment to enhancing services for travelers in one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs.
Located in the Arrivals Meet & Greet area of the terminal, the new store caters primarily to inbound travelers. Visitors can exchange up to 45 global currencies for Qatari Riyals with ease and convenience. Additionally, the outlet offers money transfer services, enabling customers to send funds to over 350,000 destinations worldwide.
A Strategic Expansion for Enhanced Accessibility
In addition to nine traditional retail outlets, Travelex operates four flexible ‘on-the-move’ kiosks at Hamad International Airport. These mobile units can be strategically relocated to high-traffic areas during peak travel periods, ensuring seamless service for passengers.
This expansion aligns with Travelex’s strategic plan to support the growing influx of international visitors to Qatar. Hamad International Airport, recognized as the World’s Best Airport 2024 by SKYTRAX, continues to attract record-breaking passenger numbers. In Q3 2024 alone, the airport welcomed over 13.7 million travelers, reflecting Qatar’s rising popularity as a premier Middle Eastern destination.

The new retail location was officially inaugurated on December 15, 2024, with notable attendees including Ian Mason, Director for Business & Trade at the British Embassy in Qatar; Francois Bourienne, Vice President Commercial at Hamad International Airport; and Nasir Lambe, General Manager for Travelex Qatar.
