(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 5 – The CEO of Fiere di Parma, Antonio Cellie, said on the sidelines of the inauguration of Tuttofood that the fair demonstrated the “incredible resilience” of the food and drink sector in Italy.
“It is an important moment for the agri-food sector, worried about the turbulence in international trade. This event demonstrates that food and beverage have incredible resilience: we have been through the energy crisis, Covid and I believe that in the end even the American administration will realize. Their farmers will not be able to support a policy of duties that effectively blocks the possibility of sharing food, which is the purpose for which we are here”, said Cellie.
Ten years after Expo 2015, whose theme was ‘Feeding the planet’, Italy returns to the center of food policies with the event organized by Fiere di Parma in the pavilions of Fiera Milano Rho. Until May 8, 4,700 companies will animate the over 150,000 square meters of the fair distributed across 10 pavilions, three more than the 2023 edition. Over 25% of participants come from abroad, from North America to the Philippines, from Spain to Egypt, ready to welcome over 3,000 top international buyers, 90,000 visitors and hundreds of journalists from all over Italy.
The opening day, attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, and the President of ICE, Matteo Zoppas, among others, opened with a conference on the theme ‘The role of AI in key sectors of agri-food’ curated by Valeria Sandei, CEO of Almawave. (ANSA).
