Britain is bracing for heavy winds and thunderstorms after a recent warm spell as unsettled weather is set to take hold.
Calm conditions will remain until Tuesday before an unsettled front grips Scotland and northern England.
Thursday and Friday will be particularly wet with heavy rain and thunderstorms spreading north.
The weather will also turn warmer and more humid for a time too, with temperatures expected to reach 27C in the south on Wednesday.
The warm spell will be short-lived, however, with colder weather set to sweep back in from Friday.
The change is being driven by high pressure currently sitting over the UK, before drifting north-east towards Scandinavia.
That will open the door for an area of low pressure currently sitting in the north-east Atlantic, near Portugal, to push north-east towards the UK early next week.
Further areas of low pressure are then expected to follow, moving north or north-east and bringing a more unsettled spell of weather.
The low pressure system off the coast of Portugal has already been flagged as unusual, with the US National Hurricane Centre monitoring its progress.
The pressure has a small window this weekend in which it could acquire subtropical or tropical characteristics.
The chances of this happening have not exceeded 20 per cent.
Wednesday will see cloudier skies and showery outbreaks across south west England and Wales.
Further east will see early morning heavy rain and thunderstorms, with the humidity emerging in the mid-morning.

Temperatures will lift to around 25C-27C across the south in the sun.
Thunderstorms are expected to hit the Midlands northwards.
Thursday will bring heavy showers, longer spells of rain, and localised thunderstorms northwards widely across the UK through the day.
There is a risk of flash-flooding from possible intense downpours in places.
Drier and sunnier and weather may spread across southern areas in the afternoon, which could allow temperatures to reach 25C and feeling humid too.
Friday brings a spell of heavy and perhaps thundery rain along with increasingly strong winds across central and eastern England and perhaps across southern Scotland later in the day too.
The Bank Holiday weekend looks to remain changeable but cooler with winds from the west or northwest bringing showers and occasional longer spells of rain, some sunny spells too.
