Britain could see temperatures reach as high as 28C today as the warmth many experienced across the summer has made a return.
A southerly wind has drawn in hot and humid air for many across the UK, pushing temperatures above average.
The hottest locations will be seen across south-east England and could see temperatures reaching 27C or 28C.
Northern parts of England and Wales are set to see temperatures reach the mid-20s.
The warm weather has come as a high-pressure system across Europe has led to temperatures across central and southern Europe reaching 45C.
France and Spain have been among the hottest nations this week, with temperatures at both exceeding 40C multiple times this week.
Thursday saw Spain experience its hottest day of 2026, with Huelva in the south-west reaching 45.7C.
The warm weather will not make its way to the UK, with wet and windy weather set to hit the UK over the coming days.
Scotland saw heavy rain this morning, especially in the north, and it will continue to move south throughout the day.
West Scotland has seen high winds with blustery conditions, reaching 40-45mph winds.
Temperatures are likely to peak in the early afternoon, with temperatures widely being in the 20s.
Average temperatures for September see the UK sitting around 15 and 21C.

By Tuesday, temperatures will be lower, and showery outbreaks of rain will be seen across the west and the east of the UK.
Wednesday will be more settled with high pressure returning, but the temperatures will remain cool.
The cooler temperatures have been a welcome respite to two-thirds of the UK, as they are still under drought conditions.
Hosepipe bans are in place across the UK, thanks to the drought conditions, but the UK’s largest water supplier has said that those bans may be in place into the new year.
Thames Water has said its temporary use restrictions may remain in place for several months, with bosses insisting the measures are needed to protect the environment and allow water resources to recover.
Nevil Muncaster, the company’s strategic water resources director, told Times Radio that demand for water had surged during the summer heatwaves.
“There’s been a huge demand on top of our normal supplies,” he said when discussing the impact of the recent hot weather.
Asked when customers could expect the restrictions to be lifted, Mr Muncaster said it was “realistically” likely to be towards the end of the year.
