The Met Office has issued a amber weather warning for Thursday as the UK prepares for its fifth heatwave.
The warning is in place for central England, south east England and north eastern areas, lasting from 9am on Thursday until midnight.
Britons have been warned to expect “adverse health effects including sunburn or heat exhaustion (dehydration, nausea, fatigue) and other heat-related illnesses.”
Areas of the UK are expected to reach 38C on Thursday.
The Met Office has further detailed: “Following a warm night, a spell of very hot weather will affect England on Thursday.
“The highest temperatures will be in parts of the east, southeast and the Midlands, where 37 or even 38 Celsius could be reached. This may lead to impacts on transport, infrastructure and health.”
The Met Office has advised to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm and close curtains of sun-facing windows during this time.
