Dana Lewis, who has type 1 diabetes, built her own DIY “artificial pancreas” by linking a glucose sensor and insulin pump with a small computer and off the shelf parts. She shared the OpenAPS code and step by step build instructions online for free, so other people with diabetes could make a similar system.
