Vietjet initiative Startup Flight

In an exciting new development, the Vietnam National Startup Support Center, Amity Innovation Incubator (India), and Vietjet have officially launched the “Startup Flight” initiative, a groundbreaking program aimed at fostering collaboration between the startup ecosystems of Vietnam and India. The initiative is designed to connect entrepreneurs and innovators from both countries, helping them expand their reach globally.

The official launch ceremony of the “Startup Flight” initiative took place in Ho Chi Minh City and was attended by key figures, including representatives from the government, city leaders, and experts from the Indian Institute of Technology. This marks a significant step forward in bridging the gap between two of Asia’s fastest-growing economies and their burgeoning startup cultures.

A Vision for International Collaboration

As a co-founder of the “Startup Flight” initiative, Vietjet plays a pivotal role in not only serving as an aviation bridge but also acting as a pioneer in fostering intellectual collaboration between the two nations. The airline will help connect Vietnamese and Indian startup talents by facilitating easier access to key cities across both countries.

Vietjet’s special program will provide direct flight connections between startup hubs in Vietnam such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, and the most dynamic cities in India—including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, where the airline operates its connecting flights. This wide network of connections will enable seamless mobility for startups seeking to explore opportunities and share their innovative solutions between the two countries.

Nurturing Innovation Across Four Key Sectors

The “Startup Flight” initiative is focused on nurturing innovation in four key sectors:

  • Software & Data/AI
  • E-commerce & Retail
  • EdTech
  • Transportation & Logistics

These sectors are critical to the startup ecosystem in both Vietnam and India, with both nations making significant strides in technology, education, and business innovation. The initiative will encourage the development of groundbreaking solutions that can transform these sectors and make a meaningful impact on the global stage.

The winning teams of the initiative will have the chance to elevate their startups to the next level, potentially becoming national unicorns, and contributing to the rising economies of both Vietnam and India. This is a major opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs who aim to leave a lasting impact on the startup landscape of Asia.

Key Details of the “Startup Flight” Initiative

  • Eligibility: Individuals or groups of up to three members from Vietnam and India are invited to submit proposals.
  • Application Deadline: Proposals are due by September 15, 2025. Applicants are encouraged to submit their ideas via the official website.
  • Selection Process: Following a preliminary round, the top 8 teams—with two teams selected from each sector—will be chosen to participate in the program. These teams will have the chance to receive direct advice from esteemed experts and founders from both countries.
  • Prize: The winning team in each sector will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize and two round-trip Vietjet tickets between Vietnam and India, providing them with both the resources and the opportunity to expand their reach internationally.

A Strong Partnership for Innovation

Bui Trung Thuong, Trade Counselor and Head of the Trade Office of the Embassy of Vietnam to India, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Vietnam and India, stating that India’s role as a global technology powerhouse makes it an ideal partner for Vietnam in fostering innovation and collaboration. He pointed out that five out of six Vietjet destinations in India are among the world’s top 100 startup cities, underscoring the significance of the aviation connectivity between the two countries.

The “Startup Flight” initiative is not just about fostering innovation, but also about creating meaningful partnerships and facilitating cultural exchanges between Vietnam and India, two countries with a rich history of collaboration and shared growth.

Next Steps for the Program

As the application period continues, Vietnamese and Indian startups are encouraged to participate and make use of the platform created by the “Startup Flight” initiative. The program’s impact will extend beyond the winning teams, as the overall ecosystem will benefit from the exchange of ideas, talents, and collaborations that arise throughout the process.

This initiative marks a new chapter in Vietnam-India relations, emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship in driving economic development and global impact. With Vietjet acting as the key enabler in connecting these two dynamic countries, the “Startup Flight” initiative is set to provide invaluable opportunities for startups to grow and thrive on an international scale.
