VNR Alert: Japan and USA to play for the Title, Korea and Chinese Taipei for bronze

The two finalists Japan and USA at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025 presented by RAXUS in Okinawa both recorded victories on the last day of Super Round play on Saturday.

World No. 1 Japan claimed their eighth win from as many games with a 9-1 win over No. 2 Chinese Taipei at Cellular Stadium in Naha while No. 3 USA, whose only loss in the tournament was a 6-2 loss to Japan on the opening day of the Super Round, outhit (13-2) and shut out Puerto Rico 7-0 to finish the Super Round with a 4-1 record. Japan will start Sunday’s final (at 16:00 local time) as the home team.

In the third Super Round game of the day, Korea beat Panama 9-0 to finish the Super Round with a 3-2 record and confirm their place as the home team in the bronze medal game (at 11:00 local time on Sunday) against Chinese Taipei.

Meanwhile, the Placement Round started with a surprise as South Africa defeated Germany 6-4 to earn their first win while Australia came back from an early deficit to beat Italy 12-3 and claim eighth place. In the afternoon, Cuba outscored China 10-0 to end the Placement Round with a perfect 5-0 record.

Standings for positions 5-12: 
5th Puerto Rico 6th Panama 7th Cuba 8th Australia 9th Italy 10th Germany 11th China 12th South Africa.
