(ANSA) – ROME, MAR 3 – A 57-year-old worker on Monday was crushed to death at a transport company in Guidonia Montecelio near Rome as an alarming spate of fatal workplace accidents in Italy continued.
The man died instantly after being crushed by a gate at the entrance of the transport company where he worked, according to emergency healthcare personnel and firefighters.
Police and labour inspectors are investigating the incident.
According to preliminary information, the worker, who was from Rome, got out of his car to open the gate, which fell on him.
The national labour accidents and occupational illness agency INAIL said last month that the number of fatal work-related accidents had increased to 797 in 2024 compared to the 790 recorded in 2023. (ANSA).
