(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 17 – Italy and Virtus Bologna basketball player Achille Polonara has leukemia, the club said Monday.
Virtus said the 33-year-old power forward from Ancona in Marche was being treated for mieloid leukemia in Bologna’s Sant’Orsola Malpighi Hospital.
“The whole Virtus Segafredo Bologna family is close to Achille and his loved ones and wishes the boy a speedy recovery. Forza Achi, we are all with you, we are waiting for you!”, it said.
Polonara has undergone surgery for a tumor in the past. (ANSA).
