Stage 5

Team SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing of Nino Schurter (SUI) and Filippo Colombo (SUI) were able to split apart of the other teams and increased the gap on the descent to the finish line by 1 minute 10 seconds. The all-Swiss duo take the stage win of the Queen Stage with a time of 4 hours 13 minutes 27 seconds and extend their lead in the General Classification to 1 minute 52 seconds. WILIER-VITTORIA of Luca Braidot (ITA) and Simone Avondetto (ITA) showed off with another strong day but could not keep up the pace in the end, finishing in second place. Imbuko ChempChamp A of Marco Joubert (RSA) and Tristan Nortje (RSA) raced with their heart and lead the pack after attacking, but it was Joubert who could not keep up in the end. However, they finish in third and keep this place in the GC with two more days to come.

In the women’s race Toyota | Specialized of Annika Langvad (DEN) and Sofia Gomez Villafane (ARG) take their sixth consecutive stage win and extend the overall lead to 22 minutes 20 seconds.

Stage 6

In the men’s race, the all-South African pairing of Imbuko ChemChamp A Marco Joubert (RSA) and Tristan Nortje (RSA) secured their first stage win this year in front of their home crowd. Simone Avondetto (ITA) of WILIER-VITTORIA had bad luck and lost his chain only 3km before the finish line. He and his partner Luca Braidot (ITA) crossed the finish line in second with a time deficit of 14 seconds. The current overall leaders Nino Schurter (SUI) and Filippo Colombo (SUI) of SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing had a hard day in the saddle. Filippo Colombo (SUI) struggled and lost power 15km before the finish line and they lost track to the other two teams. In the end they took third place with 1 minute 34 seconds behind the winners and keep the yellow leaders jersey by 32 seconds ahead of the decisive Grand Finale tomorrow.

The elite women’s race saw new winners as CANNONDALE ISB SPORT of Monica Calderon (COL) and Tessa Kortekaas (NED) take their first stage win in this year’s race. The clean sweep of current overall leaders Annika Langvad (DEN) and Sofia Gomez Villafane (ARG) of Toyota | Specialized ended as they finished in second with 6 minutes and 40 seconds behind the winners. They keep the orange leader’s jersey with a comfortable lead of more than 23 minutes in the GC.

Final Stage 7

Due to extreme overnight weather and a lot of rain, the start of the Grand Finale was delayed and rerouted. The distance was shortened to 40km in distance and 1.050m in climbing, which resulted in the shortest marathon stage in the history of the race. The race went full gas from the very beginning, and it was the German team OBREA Leatt Speed Company of Lukas Baum (GER) and Georg Egger (GER), who took their first stage win this year at the Grand Finale. The wearers of the yellow leaders’ jersey Nino Schurter (SUI) and Filippo Colombo (SUI) of team SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing went into the last day with a gap of 32 seconds crossed the finish line in second place and were able to defend their top position in the General Classification, taking the coveted Absa Cape Epic 2025 title. WILIER-VITTORIA of Luca Braidot (ITA) and Simone Avondetto (ITA) finished only in sixth today, but they were able to secure their runner-up position in the GC after a strong overall performance.

In the women’s category CANNONDALE ISB Sport of Monica Calderon (COL) and Tessa Kortekaas (NED) took today’s stage victory after 1 hour 54 minutes 38 seconds, their second consecutive stage victory. However,  Toyota | Specialized of Annika Langvad (DEN) and Sofia Gomez Villafane (ARG) were able to celebrate. They entered the final stage with a comfortable lead of more than 23 minutes and played it safe after a few accidents earlier in the race. Langvad and Villafane took home the title, despite crossing the finish line only in sixth place today. Annika Langvad (DEN) wrote history as she is the only rider with 6 UCI Cape Epic titles to her name to date.
