The Great Britain Rowing Team has announced that it will once again compete at the British Rowing Indoor Championships.
Following a successful World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam, the stars of the GB Rowing Team will be back on the world stage. This year’s British Rowing Indoor Championships will run alongside the World Rowing Indoor Championships at the NEC in Birmingham. Once again, the GB Rowing Team will race before thousands of spectators and against competitors from around the world.
At the 2025 edition of BRIC, Lauren Henry and Tobias Schröder won the Women’s and Open 2000m races, respectively. Fast-forward eight months and Schröder won bronze in the Men’s Quadruple Sculls on the Bosbaan, while Henry made history in the Women’s Single Scull. The Leicester Rowing Club athlete was the first British woman to ever win the Single Scull at the World Rowing Championships, beating the 2024 Olympic Champion and last year’s World Champion in the process.
“Last year, BRIC was so fun; the atmosphere was absolutely electric,” said Henry, who was crowned World Champion in Amsterdam.
“It’s a really nice change from doing our 2000m ergs in a more sterile environment with crowds and lights; it was really fun, so I’m looking forward to going again this year. With the added opportunity of it being a World Championships and potentially being able to add a world medal to my collection at indoors is a very exciting prospect for me, and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Racing will once again take place at the NEC in Birmingham, the home of BRIC since 2023.

Last year’s event was one for the books, with four World and nine new British records set, and 71 British Championships Records broken, across two incredible days of competition.
WRIC competitors can expect 2000m, 500m and relay race distances across all age groups. Adaptive athletes will also be included in the World Rowing Indoor Championships, with IAR categories across 2000m and 500m.
““For years, BRIC has been an excellent event for the GB Rowing Team to test themselves in front of a crowd, and for rowers of all ages to line up on the same stage as Olympic and Paralympic Champions,” said Interim Performance Director Tom Dyson.
“This year’s WRIC will draw the best indoor rowers from around the world to Birmingham, and the GB Rowing Team will be lining up alongside them.”
