(ANSA) – BRUXELLES, 25 GIU – This evening, the Italian Ambassador to Belgium, Federica Favi, is hosting the Association of Meat and Cured Meat Industries (Assica), which has come to Brussels to promote correct communication on the interests and priorities of the supply chain in Belgium and on the regulatory dossier under discussion at European level. The Embassy announced that the meeting was part of the work to promote ‘Made in Italy’ products, the result of permanent coordination between Italian institutions in Brussels (Representation to the EU, ICE, Chambers of Commerce), aimed at protecting the interests of territories and national companies and European consumers.
At the centre of the event, market prospects for ‘made in Italy’ pork products, labelling standards and sustainability measures that the EU is defining for the agri-food sector, as well as investment and collaboration opportunities with Belgian distribution, while highlighting the impact on employment and added value in the Italian regions with a strong pork vocation. “We are here to work as a team and defend a supply chain that is strategic for the country’s economy,” says Association President Lorenzo Beretta.
“Each of the companies present this evening represents an icon of Made in Italy and all of them work together not only to guarantee the excellence of their products, but also to spread the Italian culture of responsible food consumption, sustainable agriculture and special attention to the health of consumers and animals,” Ambassador Favi emphasised, pointing out that “the Embassy is committed to developing the Export Plan in Belgium, launched by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, and to contribute to the growth of our country in Belgium as well.
The meeting at the Embassy opens the rich programme of meetings that Assica has planned in Brussels, which includes the presentation of a three-year EU-funded project entitled ‘Trust Your Taste, Choose European Quality’.
