(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 25 – The Socalists and Democrats (S&D) group may pull its support for European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after her U-turn on the European Green Deal, Italian centre-left Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schelin said Wednesday.
“Our votes are not guaranteed and I assure you that our votes count”, she said over rumours the majority with the European People’s Party (EPP) and the Liberals may collapse due to the president’s change of stance.
“Our group is currently highly critical of this Commission.
Today our group leader of the EU Socialists, Iratxe Garcia Perez met with Von der Leyen, later we will talk about which strategy to adopt”, Schlein underlined. (ANSA).
