Scientific diplomacy in Vienna on AI and supercomputing

(ANSA) – VIENNA, 19 SET – As part of the initiatives organized by the Embassy of Italy in Vienna for the World Day of Italian Research in the World (GRIM), a prestigious scientific diplomacy event dedicated to supercomputing and artificial intelligence in the European context was held yesterday, Sept. 18, at Metternich Palace.
The event, titled “On the cutting edge of the Italian High Performance Computing and AI Factory within the European framework,” focused on the latest developments in the field of supercomputing, big data and artificial intelligence.
Prof. A.Zoccoli, president of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and the National Center for High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing (ICSC) in Bologna, detailed the activities of the center and the main prospects for international collaboration in the field of digital and technological innovation. In particular, ICSC will participate in the coordination of IT4LIA, the Italian AI Factory funded by the EU Commission to the end of 2024, in which Austria and Slovenia are also partners.
The initiative, organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the Association for Scientific Exchanges Austria Italy (ASSAI), was an important opportunity for scientific and institutional dialogue, involving representatives of Austrian ministries academies and research institutes, and confirming the centrality of cooperation between Austria and Italy in the strategic fields of artificial intelligence and supercomputing.
