2025 was a great year to be a Stephen King fan, as the author had several critically acclaimed adaptations make their way to screens around the world. One of the first retellings of King’s novels came in the form of The Life of Chuck, the sci-fi epic directed by Mike Flanagan. Flanagan has also been tapped to direct an adaptation of King’s novel Carrie, which he’s doing in a series coming to Prime Video this year. Following the premiere of The Life of Chuck was The Long Walk, the harrowing dystopian horror thriller starring Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson. The film was produced on a modest budget of only $20 million, but it easily turned a profit of this by grossing $63 million at the global box office. It’s also been one of the most popular movies of the year on Starz.
