(ANSA) – BERLINO, 16 GIU – The Italian Embassy in Berlin won the #BotschaftenOnBike competition, a competition promoted by the Embassy network of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. It involves cycling as many daily routes as possible for three weeks.
“#BotschaftenOnBike is proof that diplomacy can cycle together for a more sustainable future, uniting people, cultures and nations around the same passion… that for cycling!” said Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci during the award ceremony.
The kilometres covered by each team were digitally recorded and then compared in a separate ranking among the participating embassies. The Italian team, consisting of 47 cyclists, clocked up 10,910 km, which corresponds to a saving of 1,789.3 kg of CO2 emissions.
The prize-giving ceremony, which took place in the Italian Embassy, saw the Estonian team, winners of the last edition, present the Italian team with a diploma of merit, a case of ‘Carlsen’ beer and the ‘golden helmet’, the symbol of the event.
