(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 1 – With the message “Welcome Rasmus,” Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis on Monday announced the arrival of Denmark centre forward Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United to Serie A champions Napoli on social media.
The 22-year-old striker arrives from United on loan, with an obligation to buy if Napoli qualifies for next season’s Champions League at the end of the season.
Hojlund underwent a medical yesterday in Rome and then traveled to Naples to sign his contract.
He will be the new weapon in the Neapolitan attack, which will be without the injured Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku for the first half of the season, but he is also the player the club, with coach Antonio Conte’s approval, is banking on for future years.
Napoli is currently paying Manchester United €6 million for the Dane, and another €44 million for a renewal at the end of the season.
His five-year contract is worth approximately €5 million per season.
According to rumors, Napoli will also include an €80 million sell-on clause in the Dane’s contract.
After signing, Hojlund will leave to join the Denmark national team for the World Cup qualifiers against Scotland on September 5th and Greece on September 8th, then return to Naples to quickly integrate into Conte’s team.
Sold from Atalanta to Manchester United two years ago for €77 million, the Dane played 95 games in two seasons at United, scoring 26 goals.
He is now ready for a new adventure in Italy, aiming for another Scudetto (Napoli’s fifth) and playing among the top teams in the Champions League. (ANSA).
