It’s everyone’s favorite time of the year: Fall TV season!
While there are plenty of fresh new shows to check out, it’s equally exciting to see our favorite shows returning to TV.
Especially within the comedy genre, several popular shows are set to premiere new seasons on air or on streaming platforms in the next few months.

If you haven’t watched these series yet, now might be the time to tune in so you can be all up-to-date for the release of the new episodes.
With that being said, here are five comedy TV shows to keep an eye out for this fall.
Abbott Elementary
Over the course of four seasons, ABC’s sitcom Abbott Elementary has gained a strong and dedicated audience for good reason.
This feel-good show is guaranteed to bring a smile and lift your spirits if you’re looking for a boost of hope.

Set in an elementary school, Abbott Elementary is a workplace sitcom that follows the lives of the teachers as they navigate instructing students in the Philadelphia public school system.
Tuning in week after week always feels like a treat because the episodes consistently feature engaging and hilarious stories.
From the cynical but capable Melissa to the shy but well-meaning Gregory, every viewer can find a character to relate to.
Season 5 is shaping up to be promising, as creator Quinta Brunson promised an important storyline for one of the pivotal characters, Barbara, in the upcoming season.
Out of all the shows, I’m definitely most excited for Abbott Elementary to return on ABC on October 1st and see my favorite teacher characters back in action!
St. Denis Medical

Another amazing workplace sitcom returning this fall is NBC’s St. Denis Medical.
It follows a group of nurses and doctors working at an underfunded Oregon emergency care unit.
Compared to medical dramas like Grey’s Anatomy, St. Denis Medical has a much lighter tone.
Even though St. Denis Medical is only entering its second season, there’s a lot of potential for this sitcom to become as long-lasting and iconic as Superstore, another show developed by creator Justin Spitzer.
I’m most excited to see the arc between Sabrina and Matt, two nurses with a will-they-won’t-they romance that Season 1 heavily teased.

While the chemistry between the two was palpable in Season 1, I’m hoping to see the show take a step forward and finally see them go out together.
Make sure to tune into the Season 2 premiere of St. Denis Medical on NBC on November 3rd!
Loot
Apple TV+’s Loot is another delightful series to watch this fall.
This comedy revolves around Molly, a woman who attempts to use the money she gained from her divorce for charitable purposes.

Of course, it ends up being harder than she expects, but she is lucky to have the help of her loyal coworkers.
While it might take a while to warm up to this series, getting invested in the story is worth every moment because the drama in Molly’s personal and professional lives is every bit as juicy as it is funny.
My favorite part about this show is its central theme about being a good person.
Similar to The Good Place, Loot asks the questions of what it means to do the right thing and if we can ever change to be better.
Loot Season 3 premieres on Apple TV+ on October 15 with two new episodes.
A Man On The Inside

Netflix’s A Man On The Inside is the only comedy on this list that has made me cry as much as it has made me cackle.
This show follows a retired professor who goes undercover in a retirement home in San Francisco after his wife’s death.
While the show covers heavy topics like grief and Alzheimer’s, it finds a hopeful angle to address how to navigate the growing pains that come with aging.
The best part of A Man On The Inside is how the main character, Charles, just wants to help everyone around him, even if he has to go out of his way to do so.
A Man On The Inside Season 2 drops on Netflix on November 20th.
Ghosts

If you’re in the mood for something more supernatural, consider checking Ghosts, the CBS adaptation of the British series by the same name.
For being an adaptation, Ghosts has achieved massive success over the course of its first four seasons.
It’s not surprising that there’s such a dedicated following for this show, considering its zany ensemble characters, who keep the show fresh.
Since fall is considered the spookiest season of them all, this show is making a return at the most opportune time to deliver scares and laughs for everyone.
Ghosts Season 5 premieres on CBS on October 16.
