VNR Alert: Strong Results at XCAT Pole Position 2 and Kuwait Speed Cat Run, Plus Kuwait Long Distance Record

Salmyia, Kuwait City, 21st November 2025 — A spectacular day of UIM XCAT powerboating unfolded with the Pole Position 2 and the Kuwait Speed Cat Run, where teams demonstrated high-level performance and fierce competition. The day also marked a historic achievement for the host nation, with a new Long Distance Record successfully set by BOAT 17 KUWAIT.

The Speed Cat Run was preceded by the Kuwait Champions’ Parade, that also welcomed Sheikh Khalid Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, who personally took part in a trial run against the Championship Pace Cat, adding an inspiring highlight to the day’s events.

During Pole Position Q2, teams showed exceptional precision, control, and speed:

Results:
•    1st place: SHARJAH TEAM – UAE
•    2nd place: FAZ MARINE – UAE
•    3rd place: HPI FUJAIRAH RACING TEAM – ITA

The Kuwait Speed Cat Run followed, where speed and handling were put to the test:

Results:
•    Winner: SWECAT – SWEDEN
•    2nd place: SHARJAH TEAM – UAE
•    3rd place: VICTORY TEAM – UAE

The Kuwait Long Distance Record – Mission Accomplished

Mission accomplished for BOAT 17 Kuwait, crewed by Abdullatif Al Omani and Bader Al Dousari, which has set the new long-distance record: 61.97 nautical miles (114.768 km) completed in 1 hour, 31 minutes and 28 seconds, with an average speed of 73.95 km/h.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, with waves up to 2 meters around Kabara, the team delivered an outstanding performance, making the most of the boat’s technical set-up and the crew’s extensive experience.

The home team competed with an experimental technical package, powered by two Mercury 300 hp engines—innovative power units currently under UIM evaluation. This configuration provided exceptional agility, reduced weight and enhanced performance, all key factors in achieving the record.
Record achieved. Mission accomplished.

Event organizers praised the high standard of racing and the enthusiastic support from fans, noting that, even in its first-ever experience hosting such an event, the region delivered an outstanding spectacle. This edition further cements its reputation for world-class offshore powerboat competition.
