Vortex Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot | OHUB News

Recently, Vortex Optics released the Defender series of enclosed solar micro red dots. It’s early, but I think those are going to be a hit. However, that’s not the only optic Vortex is bringing to the enclosed emitter game. New for this week is the Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot. But why two similar optics in such a short time frame? I think that the answer lies more in Vortex’s model of providing a product to fit within everyone’s needs and budget. The Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot, like its brethren in the Venom line, they are meant to be a budget-oriented version of other optics. For example, the Venom 5-25×56 is a simplified version of the Strike Eagle 5-25×56. While the Venom offers a ton of performance, it doesn’t contain all the bells and whistles of the costlier option. With that, let’s get into the optic.

This red dot, as mentioned above, is meant to be a simpler option over the Defender Enclosed Micro Red Dot. Without sacrificing performance, the end user receives a streamlined and cost-effective option.

From Vortex:

“The Venom® Enclosed Micro Red Dot excels by combining ruggedness with simplicity, appealing to both new and experienced handgunners. It’s easy to mount and effectively shields against environmental factors like water and dirt, without adding unnecessary bulk. This ensures optimal maneuverability and handling, while advanced features such as a large sight window, motion activation, and adjustable brightness deliver enhanced reliability and function in various shooting conditions.”

The feature list includes an option for a 3 MOA or 6 MOA size dot, motion activation, a large viewing window with an aspherical lens for a distortion-free sight picture, and truer colors. It also has 10 brightness settings to handle a multitude of lighting conditions and an auto-shutoff feature to preserve battery life. In the box, like the other currently available Vortex micro red dots, is an assortment of screws that fit many of the popular pistol options. The Venom maintains the DeltaPoint Pro footprint of the Defender-ST and XL series.

Zooming Out

The point here is for Vortex to offer a simplified version of an enclosed emitter red dot. Sans Solar backup, multi-reticle, and Fast-Rack™ texture, it is essentially the same as the already released Defender enclosed optics. Regardless, it is exciting to see Vortex attack the enclosed emitter game. The MSRP is $289.99. And remember, Vortex’s incredible VIP Warranty covers the Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot.
